Why did you create The S.E.L. Group?

My husband and I created The S.E.L. Group in order to serve people in a way that was authentic and to promote growth in people’s everyday lives.

Why did you choose counseling?

I chose counseling because helping people to grow through their problems in a practical way is one of my personal strengths. I enjoy helping others clear the clutter from their minds and develop a strategic focus for addressing their life issues.

What major counseling theories do you use with clients?
Because I am innately pragmatic, my theoretical background is the same. I use theories that have a cognitive focus because my belief is as several authors have quoted “where the mind goes, the [person] will follow”. Theories and concepts such as Emotional Intelligence, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Reality Therapy are staples in my counseling sessions. In addition, because I recognize there is no universal theory, I have developed an eclecticism to meet the needs of each individual.

What types of clients do you like to support?
In the past, I have had success working with:
Adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse
Parents of children who are defiant or oppositional
Individuals recovering from relationship trauma
Families in life transitions
